Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested on DUI charges in Indianapolis just hours after making his Colts preseason debut.
According to a public police report, Allen — who signed a one-year contract worth up to $8.32 million with the Colts earlier this month — was detained in downtown Indianapolis at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday. The six-time NFL Pro Bowler was preliminarily charged with DWI/DUI/OWI-endanger person and DWI/DUI/OWI-ACE .08 or more, both of which are misdemeanors.
Officers came across Allen while conducting a routine traffic investigation into a car stopped in a no-parking zone, per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). Following a brief interaction, the police observed signs of intoxication and impairment.

Allen was subsequently taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Adult Detention Center, according to local jail records.
In an official statement to the New York Post, the IMPD noted that Allen was innocent until proven guilty.
“An arrest and a charge are merely accusations, and Allen should be considered innocent unless and until found guilty in court,” the IMPD said. “The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.”
Less than 24 hours before his arrest, Allen suited up for the Colts’ final preseason game against the Detroit Lions at Lucas Oil Stadium. The 34-year-old reeled in his lone target, finishing the afternoon with one reception for 24 yards.

The Colts confirmed they were “aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night” in an official statement, adding: "We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."
Mirror U.S. Sports has reached out to Allen’s agent for comment.
Speaking to reporters on August 19, Allen expressed excitement about once again joining forces with Colts head coach Shane Steichen, with whom he worked on the Chargers from 2014 to 2020.
Before coming to Indianapolis, Steichen served as the Chargers’ offensive quality control coach, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator. "Shane's my guy," Allen said.
"We go way back to having that connection and familiarity. Just knowing Shane and being able to come in, plug and play. The way he runs things, he's a genius in himself. He sees [the game] from a player's perspective."
Allen additionally relished the opportunity to catch passes from Daniel Jones, whose resurgent 2025 campaign was cut short by a torn right Achilles tendon he suffered in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"Daniel's a guy who is getting better every year," he said. "I think last year he was on a big roll, and [I'm] trying to come in and be part of that and help him, and be that little safety blanket."
As for how he planned to help the Colts this season, Allen said: "I'm making plays and moving the chains. Being a veteran, somebody can ask questions and look forward to."
