Another mild surprise has hit the news waves. Shortly after it was announced that tight end Justin Joly was waived, the Denver Broncos have another one of their 2026 NFL Draft class picks not making the team. According to 9News Broncos’ insider Mike Klis, that’s seventh-round pick and _Mr. Irrelevant_, inside linebacker Red Murdock.
With Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad scheduled to be the starters for the team, finding out who would be the next man up in the rotation was one of the biggest battles during training camp and the preseason. Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph had high praise for Murdock throughout the offseason. However, it appears the team will favor the likes of Karene Reid and Jordan Turner for depth at the position this season.
We will see if Murdock is able to clear waivers and land back on the Broncos’ 16-man practice squad.
