Liverpool have received a boost in their reported efforts to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton, with the Seagulls seemingly working on signing his replacement.
Foday Manneh reported earlier today that Liverpool and Brighton have held fresh talks to bring the Gambian forward to Anfield, with his £80m price tag reportedly being discussed. The Reds could get him for cheaper.
Manneh reported on X: “EXCL: BREAKING: Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool; LFC have reactivated talks with Brighton for the Gambian winger.
“Brighton have discussed a new price with Liverpool this morning that looks decent, and the two clubs are now in active talks to secure an agreement soon.
“The deal is BACK.”

Now, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Brighton’s efforts to sign Millwall’s Femi Azeez are intensifying, with the 25-year-old viewed as a direct replacement for Minteh.
Ornstein reports: “Brighton & Hove Albion are set to intensify their pursuit of Millwall winger Femi Azeez before the transfer window closes.
“The 25-year-old right-sided attacker has been subject to two formal bids from Brighton so far, the most recent a package just north of £10million. Millwall consider that significantly below what they would want for Azeez, however Brighton’s pursuit continues in the hope of reaching an agreement prior to the market closing at 11pm BST on Tuesday.”

Liverpool could sign Minteh AND Ismaila Sarr
Until recently, it seemed as though Minteh and Sarr were separate targets, but it seems as though Liverpool could sign both in the club’s efforts to increase the attacking options available to Andoni Iraola.
Losing Mohamed Salah on a free transfer this summer was a massive blow, and Cody Gakpo will also leave once Bradley Barcola’s £123m move to Anfield is complete.
The Reds’ attacking roster has diminished drastically compared to the side that lifted the Premier League trophy in 2025, but the new era is a bright one with plenty of promising young attackers on board.
When Hugo Ekitike returns in December, the hope is that he will be able to return to his previously incredible form, and if he does, Iraola will have a truly sensational array of attackers to pick from.
