A family were surprised after bumping into one of Liverpool's players at an Asda. Dan Finn, 39, from Old Roan, visited the Asda in Aintree at about 1.30pm this afternoon with his wife Nicola, 39, and their son Lewis, 12.
Dan and Lewis were at Anfieldyesterday for Liverpool’sfirst home game of the season, a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. It was a frustrating performance from the Reds, who went behind twice as they continue to adjust to a large turnover of players and a fresh style of play under new manager Andoni Iraola.
However, nearly all supporters agreed that the stand-out player was new signing Victor Munoz. The 23-year-old forward joined earlier this summer following an impressive season at Osasuna in Spain.
Munoz worked tirelessly on the left hand side of the attack before switching to the right, where the Spainard scored a stunning equaliser in the 82nd minute to avoid a defeat in Iraola’s first game.
Therefore, they were delighted when they spotted Munoz and his Spanish friends at the supermarket. Despite his lack of English, Dan says Munoz was very polite and agreed to take a picture with Lewis.
Speaking to the ECHO, Dan said: “We went to the game yesterday. He was just walking into the Asda with what looked like his brother and what must have been a few of his friends.
"They were walking around trying to find a trolley and realised that you have to put a pound in for it, which he didn’t understand. I spotted him and as he’s walking in my lad’s started to give him a double look.
"We just gave him a shout. He was dead polite. He was a class act. Then we saw him a few times in the aisle and he was still dead nice and dead friendly.”
In recent years, Merseyside’s footballers have increasingly opted to stay within more wealthy areas such as Formby, Crosby or further afield in Cheshire’s Alderley Edge, so Dan was surprised to see Munoz, who was also in Spain's World Cup winning squad, there.

He said: “I think what has probably happened is he has Googled somewhere to buy things for the house and Asda has came up first. He was dead down to earth.
"Sometimes you get this perception of footballers being a little bit above themselves, but he was just a young Spanish kid walking around the ASDA. That's probably the best way you could put it.”
Dan shared the picture of Munoz and Lewis on his X/Twitter account just after 3pm. The post has been viewed over 216,000 times and had 340 likes at time of writing.
Dan said: ”Lewis is a bit overwhelmed now because he's just realised that Twitter's just gone off its head. When he’s back in school, he can say, ‘I met Victor Munoz’. That’ll be one he’ll remember for a little while. It was a really good experience for my lad.”
Dan, who is a regular home and away, is confident Munoz will become a fan favourite. In his debut against Newcastle last week, he came off the bench and won a penalty to salvage a point in the dying seconds of the match.

Dan said: “I was at Newcastle away last week and when he came on in the last 10 minutes, he changed the game. Then yesterday, he was good on the left, but when he went on the right, he changed the game. A great touch, great finish (for the goal).
“The best bit I loved was that he celebrated, then (Liverpool midfielder Dominik) Szoboszlai came running over to him and was like, 'get back to the halfway line, because we’re going to score another one.'”
