NFL Cut Day: Mountaineers that made NFL 53-man active rosters

As of 6:00pm ET on Tuesday afternoon, NFL franchises must submit their official 53-man active rosters to the league. That means, hundreds of players from around professional football will receive devastating news that they have been cut.... while just as many will be rejoicing that they made the team. Below, we've tracked all the Mountaineers currently vying for a roster spot in the NFL, and given the latest on their situation - active, injured, waived, or whatever.

Please keep in mind that, after cuts are made, teams have 48 hours to pick up players who were waived from other teams and add to their own active roster, thus also forcing another cut on their own team. It's also likely that some moves are made with the understanding that players will be coming back sooner rather than later.

An example of that from last season was Will Grier (who has since retired).  As it was explained to me, because he already had four years of experience in the league, he did not need to clear waivers and the Cowboys can put him on their practice squad, carrying just two active quarterbacks.... and then pull him up for game days each week. That's exactly what happened, with him sticking with the team - bouncing between active and practice squad throughout the year.
