At least some of the above players are likely to remain in Jacksonville on its practice squad. That includes Peña, whom the Jaguars hope to keep, according to Jordan Schultz. With 10 catches, 149 yards and a touchdown in three games, the undrafted rookie from Penn State flashed in the preseason. He also returned four punts for 37 yards.
Mekari, who started in all 14 appearances at right guard last year, will miss the beginning of the season after undergoing back surgery. He will be eligible to return to practice in Week 5. In the meantime, 2024-25 LG starter Ezra Cleveland could take over on the right side, per John Oehser of the team’s website. Third-round rookie Emmanuel Pregnon has been working as the Jags’ starting left guard.
