Steelers routes Marquez Valdes-Scantling
There are 1,184 players released or waived around the NFL over the few days leading up to the cutdown deadline. Teams were required to trim their 90-man offseason rosters to 53 prior Sunday by 6 PM/ET. A little less than half of those players will find their new homes on an NFL practice squad, many staying with the same teams that cut them. The remaining half may never get another opportunity in the NFL. Statistically speaking, this is the end of the road for hundreds of players.

Along with the 38 players cut in Pittsburgh over the weekend, there were 30 former Steelers cut across 17 different NFL teams. Former Aaron Rodgers teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling is the most notable name while Isaiahh Loudermilk and Chris Oladokun are the only former Steelers draft picks looking for a new home. Several of these players appeared on the same list last year on cutdown day.
Valdes-Scantling is the most likely to reunite with the Steelers via the practice squad given Rodgers’ return to Pittsburgh.
