Alexis Mac Allister has no intention of leaving Liverpool before Tuesday's transfer deadline despite reported interest from Manchester City.

City have once again been linked with Mac Allister as they struggle to complete a deal for his fellow Argentina international Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea.

The Liverpool midfielder was strongly touted to depart earlier in the window following an indifferent last season and having been a long-time target of Real Madrid.

In contrast to Mac Allister's club team-mates Ryan Gravenberch and Ryan Gravenberch, the Reds have not offered the 27-year-old a new deal despite the player having less than two years remaining on his current agreement.

But his father and representative Carlos said to WinWin: “Alexis is not thinking about leaving Liverpool. He wants to stay at the club.

“Liverpool have not started talks to renew Alexis’s contract, but the player’s desire is to continue at the club.”

Mac Allister made his first start of the season for Liverpool on Saturday in the 2-2 Premier League draw at home to Nottingham Forest having been a substitute in the opening weekend at Newcastle United.

He had started pre-season training later than the majority of the Reds squad having helped Argentina reach the World Cup final, where they were beaten by Victor Munoz's Spain.
