Liverpool fans across the world will keep their eyes peeled today as they impatiently await Bradley Barcola’s arrival.
The Frenchman has been at Merseyside over the past 24 hours to do his medical, sign his contract and do all the media duties ahead of his official announcement as a new Liverpool player.
Barcola was named as the Reds’ primary transfer target months ago, and after over a month of negotiations, Andoni Iraola’s side have finally got the signing over the line.
And now, reports from France have confirmed his shirt number, which is hardly a surprise.
Bradley Barcola to wear No 29 at Liverpool
The No 29 has followed Barcola at Lyon and PSG due to a rather amusing reason.
“It’s actually a funny story,” said Barcola via Standard Sport when asked about why he chose that particular number.
“When I was younger, I used to play FIFA. In the story mode with Alex Hunter, this number became symbolic for me. I thought to myself: ‘The day I go pro, it’ll be number 29.’
“And here I am, I adopted it, and now I’ll never let it go.”
Journalist Abdellah Boulman confirmed with a short tweet that the Frenchman will retain his beloved number at Anfield.
