Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has been speaking about the “quality” of Chelsea after watching them beat his side on Sunday.
Chelsea and Brighton played out a 4-3 thriller at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues just about managing to come out as victors.
It looked like it was going to be a comfortable afternoon for the home side after Romeo Lavia opened the scoring less than five minutes into the match.
Ten minutes later, Pedro Neto doubled Chelsea’s lead before Joao Pedro made it 3-0 against his former club.
However, Brighton eventually decided to make a real fight of things. They got the score to 3-2 and then eventually 4-3, showing how close the game was in the second half.
In the end, Chelsea’s victory came down to their “individual quality”, according to Hurzeler.
Speaking to Brighton’s official club website and the English media after the game, Hurzeler said: “We will take plenty of positive things away, but also the frustration that the result wasn’t on our side. Sometimes there is individual quality on the side of Chelsea.”
Right now, Chelsea do have a lot of individual quality in their side, particularly in attack. Once again, Chelsea fans were treated to a frontline of Palmer, Pedro and Morgan Rogers and were not left disappointed with what they saw.
As they both did against Fulham last week, Pedro and Palmer managed to score in Sunday’s win. Pedro and Rogers were also able to record assists, so this is an attack performing in every area so far.
With Palmer, Pedro and Rogers now leading Chelsea’s frontline, Neto has had to move back to the right wing-back position.
After Neto tapped the Chelsea badge following his goal against Brighton, the Portugal international does not appear to be discontent with his new role in the team. If his minutes in the first XI start to decrease, though, you would expect that to change.
For now, Neto and his Chelsea teammates look very happy under their new manager Xabi Alonso.
