Alongside Sarr: Liverpool also want to sign 'unstoppable' forward before the deadline -…

Liverpool would love to sign both Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh before Tuesday night's transfer deadline, according to journalist El-Hadji Loum, but there is a potential issue that could stop them doing that.

Liverpool are on the verge of announcing the marquee summer signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, but the France international is unlikely to be the last arrival at Anfield in the next 36 hours.

The Reds are working on signing another winger before 11pm tomorrow, that would then allow Cody Gakpo to complete a £85m move to Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The Dutchman had looked set for Tottenham Hotspur at one stage, but City's entry into the transfer race convinced the player he wanted to move to the Etihad instead.

Fabrizio Romano and many other top sources have claimed that Liverpool are in talks with Crystal Palace over a late move for Senegal international Sarr, with GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs revealing on Sunday night that the 28-year-old is 'pushing' the Eagles to sell him to Liverpool.

Jacobs says that while talks are ongoing for both players, Liverpool prefer Sarr despite Palace's stance on a sale.

Even if the Reds do end up landing Sarr in the next hours, Foot Mercato journalist Loum has claimed on X that ideally the Merseyside outfit also want Brighton star Minteh to join this summer.

The reporter claims that it will be down to the club's budget, but given Liverpool have already seen a £60m bid rejected for Minteh, it would be another £100m+ outlay to land both players in the closing hours of the window.

Liverpool still look to have a lot of shortcomings after a disappointing 2025-26 season, having started the current Premier League season with two draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

The Reds clearly aren't as strong offensively as they have been at times in recent years, especially following the exit of Mohamed Salah, but adding Barcola, Sarr and Minteh to their squad before the deadline would go some way to fixing that issue.

The trio would bring explosive pace and direct running that would cause opposition defences nightmares, and potentially open up more space for the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz to shine.

Senior sports writer Charlie Parker-Turner has certainly been impressed with what he has seen from Minteh at Brighton.

The explosion of pace could be just what Liverpool and Iraola need to help the club become genuine Premier League title contenders again.
