Cody Gakpo is reportedly willing to stay at Liverpool this summer if a deal with Manchester City isn't completed by the end of the transfer window. The Dutchman is being courted by the Manchester club, with Liverpool said to value Gakpo at around £85million.
It was reported over the weekend that Gakpo had chosen a move to City, and there was talk about personal terms having been agreed between the two parties. However, Gakpo would be happy to perform a U-turn and remain at Anfield if a financial agreement can't be struck between City and Liverpool.

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports Liverpool would be happy for him to stay at the club if they themselves aren't able to source a replacement before Tuesday's deadline. Liverpool have been pushing forward with plans to sign Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace, having reportedly stepped back from a move for Yankuba Minteh following two rejected bids.
Gakpo has been linked with a move away from Liverpool all summer, with Tottenham having emerged as the most likely candidate for the Dutch international. However, Spurs were forced to pivot when Gakpo opted for a move to City instead of the north Londoners, with Tottenham focusing their attention on Iliman Ndiaye instead.
It comes on the same day that Liverpool finally announced the signing of long-term target Bradley Barcola, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain for £123million. Speaking upon his arrival, the Frenchman remarked: "It's a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I'm very happy. It took a long time but I'm really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.
"I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it's one of my biggest dreams in my life. It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term – that's why I signed a long contract – and I hope I can do it."
Barcola was said to have plenty of suitors, including Arsenal, who are believed to have had a look at the winger after missing out on Vinicius Junior. On why he picked Liverpool ahead of other options, he said: "I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players. When I knew about Liverpool's interest in me, I didn't ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me."
