Everton striker Beto has arrived in Florence ahead of his medical with Fiorentina as he closes in on a permanent move to the Serie A club.
The Portuguese forward was pictured arriving in Florence on Monday afternoon and will now undergo his medical before completing his transfer from Everton.
Fiorentina have agreed a deal with Everton worth around €17-18 million, according to reports in Italy, with the move expected to be completed before the transfer window closes.
Beto’s arrival comes after Fiorentina’s pursuit of Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee failed to produce a deal.
The Viola subsequently turned to the Everton striker, who previously established himself as a prolific forward during his time with Udinese.
Beto arrives in Florence
Beto has now made the trip to Italy and is set to complete his medical before putting pen to paper on his Fiorentina contract.
Sky Sport Italia reported earlier on Monday that the deal had been agreed with Everton for a permanent transfer worth €18 million.
Italian outlet FiorentinaNews has since reported that Beto has landed at Florence’s Peretola airport and will undergo his medical before signing for the club.
The transfer is also significant for Fiorentina because it allows them to proceed with the departure of Moise Kean.
Fiorentina have agreed to sell Kean to Como for €35m plus €5m in potential bonuses, but had been waiting to secure a replacement before allowing the striker to leave.
Everton set to move on from Beto
Beto’s Everton career is therefore set to come to an end after three seasons at the club.
The striker arrived from Udinese in 2023 and leaves having made 113 appearances for Everton, scoring 25 goals.
He enjoyed his most productive campaign last season, finishing as Everton’s leading goalscorer with 10 goals in all competitions.
Despite that improvement, Beto’s position in David Moyes‘ plans had remained uncertain, particularly following the emergence of Thierno Barry.
His departure also gives Everton room to reshape their attacking options before the transfer deadline.
Everton are already working on potential replacements, with reports indicating that the club are pursuing Monaco striker Folarin Balogun.
For now, though, Beto’s Everton chapter is effectively at its conclusion.
The 28-year-old is in Florence, with his medical and final paperwork the remaining steps before his move to Fiorentina becomes official.
