Huge 'agreement' update from Fabrizio Romano - Liverpool's 90th minute 'Hail Mary'

**Liverpool will not let Cody Gakpo leave for Manchester City unless Crystal Palace allow Ismaila Sarr to join the Reds before the transfer deadline.**

It’s frustrating but also kinda funny how Liverpool are once again relying on Crystal Palace on Deadline Day to give them what they need.

Last summer, the Reds’ summer transfer window fell short at the very last minute when Marc Guehi was prevented from making his preferred move to Anfield.

The replacement Palace had lined up for Guehi fell through, and so the Eagles pulled the rug out from underneath Liverpool.

Now, with less than 48 hours to go until the Premier League transfer deadline at 11 pm on Tuesday, Liverpool are putting their faith in hoping that Palace will allow them to sign Sarr.

Fabrizio Romano shares the last on Liverpool’s Ismaila Sarr transfer plans

Fabrizio Romano says that Cody Gakpo is currently set to stay at Liverpool unless something changes with Sarr.

[Romano said on his YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFXG1UZZKsk): _“Then, talking about the Cody Gakpo situation, the agreement is done. Cody Gakpo and Manchester City have an agreement on the contract, all set already._

_“Manchester City have also sent an £85m bid to Liverpool. Liverpool will only accept if they get the right winger before the end of the deadline. Otherwise, they will keep Cody Gakpo._

_“So this is the domino now. Who is the winger they want? At the moment, the favourite, more than Yankuba Minteh, is Ismaila Sarr. Ismaila Sarr is the favourite candidate._

_“My understanding is that Crystal Palace are still saying no to Sarr’s exit. At the same time, they are also exploring possibilities for wingers on the market in case they get the right proposal for Sarr._

_“Liverpool had a bid rejected earlier this week. There were zero links in the media between Ismaila Sarr and Liverpool, but I told you Liverpool sent a bid. It was £50m and was rejected by Palace._

_“All people denied this, but now they are all talking about Ismaila Sarr and Liverpool because there was a bid and it got rejected. I can guarantee 100% that there was a bid sent by Liverpool in writing, so an official bid, not a verbal proposal._

_“It was £45m plus £5m in add-ons, for a £50m package, but Crystal Palace are not selling the player for this money._

_“So, let’s see what is going to happen there. Ismaila Sarr wants the move. He wants to go to Liverpool, but now it depends on the two clubs._

_“Again, as I told you in the last video, Liverpool are being offered wingers every minute because all the clubs and all the agents know that Liverpool obviously need a winger.”_

Sorry to Gakpo – but I hope he stays and Liverpool don’t sign Sarr

I understand that the arrival of Bradley Barcola means that Gakpo will be less likely to play the number of minutes he would like in his preferred left wing role, but as we saw against Nottingham Forest, the Dutchman can play anywhere across the front three.

Sarr, on the other hand, is most effective as a No.9 and would only provide real value in being a reserve option for Alexander Isak, whose game time needs to be monitored after the injury struggles he faced last season.

Gakpo might be on £250,000-a-week wages, but he is experienced, is almost never injured and his versatility is extremely valuable.
