Liverpool's September fixture list was modified after the Champions League draw, and Andoni Iraola's side will now play five matches in 17 days before the international break

Liverpool’s upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham was moved following the UEFA Champions League draw.
The Reds were originally scheduled to host Tottenham at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Sept. 16, but that fixture has now been moved up one day and will be played Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3 pm ET.
The change comes as a result of Liverpool being scheduled to play Atletico Madrid in Matchweek 1 of the Champions League on Wednesday, Sept. 9, the same date Everton and Wolves were set to face off in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Because Liverpool and Everton cannot host home matches on the same day due to local safety protocols in Merseyside and UEFA’s unwillingness to amend its Champions League schedule, it is both clubs’ Carabao Cup fixtures that are being shifted around.
The Champions League draw forced Everton and Wolves to reschedule on Wednesday, Sept. 16, effectively requiring Liverpool to push their Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham up one day to avoid another same-day conflict.
Andoni Iraola’s side will now play five matches in 17 days to start September, including: at Ipswich Town (Friday, Sept. 4 at 3 pm ET), vs. Atletico Madrid (Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 3 pm ET), vs. Fulham (Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 am ET), vs. Tottenham (Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3 pm ET), and at Bournemouth (Sunday, Sept. 20 at 9 am ET).

That run of fixtures carries into the next FIFA international break, which runs from Monday, Sept. 21, until Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Liverpool then returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 11:30 am ET with a home clash against Manchester City.
The Reds have drawn both of their matches so far to open the 2026-27 Premier League season, including a 2-2 draw at home against Nottingham Forest on Saturday morning.
Following Dan Ndoye’s opener, Alexander Isak logged his first goal of the season to level the score 60 minutes in, only for Alisson Becker to concede a penalty 10 minutes later, which Morgan Gibbs-White buried to put the Reds behind 2-1.
Summer signing Victor Munoz then saved the home team a point with an impressive 82nd-minute strike that marked his first goal for Liverpool.
Ahead of Monday’s fixture between Arsenal and Aston Villa, Liverpool sits 13th in the Premier League table.
Despite the mediocre start to the season, the mood surrounding the club and its fanbase will be uplifted by the announcement of new transfer Bradley Barcola, who officially joined from PSG on Monday in a $166 million deal.
With just over one day remaining in the summer transfer window, which shuts at 6 pm ET on Tuesday, Sept. 1, there remains plenty of unfinished business for the club in terms of both incomings and outgoings.
