Everton are approaching the final day of the transfer window with Folarin Balogun talks advancing, Beto heading for Fiorentina and major decisions still to be made over Jack Grealish, Richarlison and Iliman Ndiaye.
It has already been a busy Monday.
There has also been fallout from the proposed Harrison Armstrong sale and renewed scrutiny of the club’s transfer strategy.

Balogun talks move forward
Everton’s interest in Folarin Balogun has gone well beyond simply putting his name on a list.
An opening €18m offer has been made and Sacha Tavolieri reports that Monaco have acknowledged the United States international’s desire to join Everton and are now negotiating.
The eventual price could exceed €40m plus add-ons.
Balogun scored 13 Ligue 1 goals last season and was subsequently voted Monaco’s player of the season.
Everton want another striker and Balogun has now become the name at the front of that search.

Beto heading for Fiorentina
At the same time, Beto is close to leaving.
Everton have agreed a £15.4m (€18m) deal with Fiorentina and the striker is due in Italy for his medical.
It would bring his three-year stay on Merseyside to an end and leave David Moyes needing another centre-forward.
The Balogun and Beto deals are separate, but they are becoming difficult to view in isolation.
One striker is heading towards the exit while Everton negotiate for another.

Richarlison decision could shape Ndiaye future
There is still no resolution to two other major attacking stories.
Tottenham have made Ndiaye their number one target and Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement is in place with the player and his representatives.
Everton have also discussed bringing Richarlison back from Spurs, with the Brazilian’s decision potentially affecting what happens with Ndiaye.
The deals should still be treated separately rather than as a straight swap.
Moyes has already said Everton cannot afford to lose players and do not want to lose their better ones.
Ndiaye certainly belongs in that category.

Grealish return remains live
Jack Grealish is another deal which could run into the final hours.
The Athletic reports that Everton are working on a second loan for the City winger after his spell under Moyes last season.
Grealish is understood to favour a return to Merseyside and his future at City looks increasingly likely to lie elsewhere.
There is no agreement yet.
But with Beto leaving and Ndiaye’s future uncertain, Everton’s attack could still look considerably different by Tuesday night.

Questions remain over Everton’s transfer strategy
All of this comes after a turbulent weekend.
Everton were prepared to allow Harrison Armstrong to join Nottingham Forest before The Friedkin Group intervened and stopped the move following a fierce reaction from supporters.
Moyes subsequently said “supporters aren’t always wrong” and reiterated that he wants his squad strengthened.
The proposed Armstrong sale followed by discussions over Ndiaye has inevitably put the club’s decision-making under scrutiny.
Chief executive Angus Kinnear has spoken about Everton’s European ambitions.
The next day and a half should tell us considerably more about how the club intends to pursue them.

Balogun, Grealish and Richarlison could all strengthen Moyes’ attacking options.
Ndiaye could still leave.
A right-back is also required.
