Aston Villa take on Arsenal this evening
Aston Villa target their first positive result of the new Premier League season as they host champions Arsenal at Villa Park.
Unai Emery's side started the campaign with a 4-0 defeat at Brighton, while Joao Gomes was sent off for violent conduct and will now miss three league matches as a result.
Unlike at the Amex, Villa will have a striker in their squad, with new signing Nicolas Jackson completing his £47.5 million plus add-ons move from Chelsea before the registration deadline.
Villa have won four of their seven home games against Arsenal since their return to the Premier League in 2019, more than they had in their first 24 meetings with them at Villa Park in the competition.
They have also won their last three Premier League home games against the reigning champions, as many as they had in their first 28.
Arsenal opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over newly promoted Coventry City, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard among the goals.
