**Matteo Moretto reports that Liverpool are close to sending Harvey Elliott out on loan, which could signal the end of his time at Anfield.**
The 23-year-old endured a tough loan spell at Aston Villa last season, when the Premier League outfit kept him frozen on the bench to avoid triggering a clause which would have obliged them to make his move to Villa Park permanent.
This had a devastating impact on his fitness and development as a young player, but he will get a second chance this season on loan with Valencia in La Liga. The speed of the game and the emphasis on technical quality will suit Elliott, and hopefully see him return to a more recognisable version of himself.
Reporting on X, Matteo Moretto reports that Elliott’s move to Valencia is now agreed in principle, with a medical scheduled.

Will we see Elliott at Anfield again?

Liverpool are now sending Elliott on loan for the entirety of the 2026/27 season, but unless something changes in the next 12 months, he will leave the club in a year on a free transfer.
The midfielder’s contract expires on 1 July 2027, meaning that the Reds will need to offer him a new contract, or lose him for free. It’s a disappointing end to what promised to be an exciting career at Anfield.
Elliott’s fortunes have been in steady decline since Jurgen Klopp left the club, as Arne Slot never fully put his trust in the former Fulham and Chelsea youngster.
In Klopp’s final season in charge, the 2023/24 campaign, Elliott was fantastic even if he played mostly as a squad player. With 4 goals and 14 assists, his role in the team was invaluable.
However, Slot gave him 1,900 fewer minutes the following season, resulting in a still-impressive 5 goals and 3 assists, all things considered. Hopefully, he can now make the most of his loan in Spain and then find a permanent home next summer where his talents will be valued.
