**Liverpool have rejected a bid for 19-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni from Nottingham Forest.**
Curtis Jones was allowed to leave the club earlier this month, joining Inter Milan. The Scouser had made it clear that it was his wish to leave the Reds, but the same will not be allowed to happen with Nyoni.
Reporting on X, The Times’ Paul Joyce reports that Liverpool have rebuffed a bid from Forest for Nyoni.
Joyce says: “Nottingham Forest have had a bid of £25 million, plus £5 million in add-ons, rejected for Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni. Nyoni, 19, is viewed as a valued member of Andoni Iraola’s squad.”

Green but good: Nyoni has a bright future ahead of him at Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai aside, Nyoni was the most eye-catching player in Andoni Iraola’s squad this summer during pre-season, and his future rightfully belongs at Anfield.
When he was introduced from the bench against Forest on Saturday, it was encouraging but alarming to see how much control he instilled in the middle of the park.
Encouraging because it was the latest reminder of how quickly the 19-year-old is progressing in the first team.
Alarming because it was more evidence of how poorly balanced the Liverpool midfield has been allowed to become.
Selling Jones was necessary, but not replacing him with a new midfield controller is suicidal. The Reds needed midfield reinforcement before the summer transfer window began, so selling Jones without signing a replacement just feels irresponsible.
Now, it seems Nyoni is set for greater responsibility than anyone could have predicted. That said, he will need to beef up to compete in the Premier League, as he was eased off the ball within minutes of entering the fray on Saturday, but that’s a much easier fix than a lack of talent. Which is not Nyoni’s problem at all.
Liverpool’s negligence aside, it’s encouraging to know that Nyoni will be given ample game time to develop this season. Stefan Bajcetic has just been sold to Celta Vigo. While it was a necessary transfer, it’s good to know that the next generation of top, young midfielders is making its way through now Hopefully, Nyoni will have better luck with injuries than the Spaniard.
