The Miami Dolphins were busy over the weekend trimming their roster down to 53 players. On Monday, the work continued for general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan — as Miami claimed seven players off of waivers in order to get them on their roster.
QB — Brady Cook (from New York Jets)
DB — Marcellas Dial (from New England Patriots)
OT — Chukwuebuka Godrick (from Kansas City Chiefs)
TE — Justin Joly (from Denver Broncos)
OT — Jarrett Kingston (from Houston Texans)
DB — Reese Taylor (form Denver Broncos)
DB — Julius Wood (from Dallas Cowboys)
Cook comes to Miami after playing in five games, and starting four games for the New York Jets last season. He completed 88 passes on 153 attempts for 739 yards, two touchdowns and seven interceptions. He earned a 55.4 quarterback rating in 2025.
Joly was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft, but failed to make the team. He had a productive four-year college career — nabbing 166 receptions for 1,978 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Wood had 18 tackles in three games as a safety for the Dallas Cowboys this preseason. Reports were that Dallas planned to bring him back to their practice squad before Miami swooped in with a claim.
In addition to claiming seven players on Monday, the Dolphins also signed free agent defensive end Malik Herring. Herring has spent the past four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs — totalling 1.5 sacks during his career.
