Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave an update on Bruno Guimaraes’ recent injury, as per latest news. The Brazilian couldn’t join the team in the match against Coventry due to a groin injury. However, team manager Arteta denied any rumors of a serious injury.
Guimaraes’ injury is not serious, confirms manager Arteta
Guimaraes sustained a groin injury during his debut in the Community Shield match. There were rumors that the Arsenal player’s injury was serious, and he could be out of action for weeks. However Arteta put all the rumors to the rest. As reported by the Sun, he assured everyone that Guimareas will be back in action soon.
He also added, “We don’t expect that to be weeks at all.” Guimaraes joined the Gunners a couple of weeks ago. He was signed for a transfer fee of £75 million from Newcastle United. Before that, he played for the Magpies between 2022 and 2026. Previously, he played for Lyon between 2020 and 2022.

Guimaraes is a brilliant midfielder who is equally capable in handling the team’s defense as well as the attack. He will strengthen the Gunners on almost every front possible. The 28-year-old midfielder aims to make a solid impact with Arsenal this summer.
Guimaraes performed well individually for the Magpies in the 2025-26 season. However, the same didn’t reflect in the team performance. Newcastle United finished in twelfth place in the Premier League table. However, they made up for it by reaching the semifinals of the EFL Cup. They also made it to the Round of 16 in the 2025-26 Champions League.

Guimaraes is currently recovering from the groin injury before he rejoins the team camp. He needs to work hard on his fitness concerns. Apart from that, the Brazilian also needs to improve on his disciplinary issues. He was served six yellow cards last season during the Premier League. That’s not a good sign for someone who wants to make a great impact in club football.
Guimaraes has a good record in terms of international football. He was part of the U23 Brazil team that won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics [held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic]. He also played for the Brazil team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, he struggled to impress with his performance. For the first time since the 1982 edition, Brazil didn’t make it to the quarter-final stage. Norway defeated them 2-1 in the Round of 16. They were later eliminated in the quarter-finals. England defeated them 2-1.
Arsenal aim to retain the Premier League title next year. Team manager Mikel Arteta knows that it’s not as easy as it sounds. However, he continues to be hopeful about the team’s performance. If Guimaraes proves his mettle this summer, he can very well lead the team to a second successive Premier League trophy.
