Bradley Barcola offers fitness update ahead of potential Liverpool debut

Liverpool have completed the signing of France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee worth up to £123m. PSG initially valued the 23-year-old at £145m, but Liverpool will pay £106m upfront plus £17m in potential add-ons.

Barcola has signed a five-year contract and becomes the fifth new arrival at Anfield this summer, following Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.

The 23-year-old, who will wear the No. 29 shirt, primarily operates on the left wing but can play across the forward line.

Barcola scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 49 appearances for PSG last season. He also featured in all eight of France’s games at the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals.

He joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 and has since won three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League trophies, two French Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Liverpool’s deal includes covering a solidarity payment Paris Saint-Germain owe Lyon from Barcola’s transfer three years ago.

Barcola will be eligible to make his Liverpool debut against Ipswich Town on Friday night. With talks extending to the eve of the transfer deadline, Barcola has had a limited pre-season following France’s World Cup campaign.

He only returned to PSG training on August 10 and reportedly missed some sessions through illness. With a move to Anfield expected, he did not feature in PSG’s final pre-season games and was omitted from their squad for three of their first four competitive matches.

However, despite last playing competitively on July 18 in France’s third-place play-off defeat by England at the World Cup, Barcola insists he feels ready to play.

Barcola told Liverpoolfc.com: “Honestly, as soon as possible. I worked hard during the holidays, I did everything I could to stay fit as much as possible, so I feel ready already.

“I think the coach or the medical [team] will take time, but honestly I think I’m ready to help the team as soon as possible.”
