Liverpool have rejected an audacious £30 million bid from Nottingham Forest for Trey Nyoni.
Forest have been on the lookout for a midfielder after selling Elliot Anderson to Man City earlier this summer, and had recently pursued Everton‘s 19-year-old Harrison Armstrong.
After the Toffees stepped back from agreeing a deal after backlash from supporters over selling a homegrown talent, they cast their eyes elsewhere.
According to the Times‘ Paul Joyce, they tried their arm at Nyoni, tabling a £25 million bid, plus £5 million in add-ons, that was rejected by Liverpool.
It was an audacious attempt from the Premier League side as the 19-year-old is a valuable member of Andoni Iraola‘s squad, even if he has only had a minor role so far.

Nyoni is one of the few defence-minded options in Iraola’s midfield department and showed what he will have to offer in his appearance off the bench against Forest over the weekend.
That perhaps sparked Oliver Glasner’s side into tabling an offer, with the teenager proving a calm, steady presence who has the ability to feed the ball forward.
Nyoni will have a more significant role for Liverpool this season after Curtis Jones‘ exit, and the expectation is that it will not be long until he surpasses his 2025/26 season total of 237 minutes.
Despite the stance reported out of Liverpool that they are not in need of midfield reinforcements, Forest were overly optimistic that they would allow their brightest prospect to leave late in the window.
With the exception of any out-of-the-blue bids like this one, Liverpool are currently poised to have a quiet deadline day after rejecting Man City‘s bid for Cody Gakpo and thus halting any search for a replacement.
