It’s been a frantic few days for Liverpool as they have been linked with players left, right and centre.
Amidst all that, the Reds officially announced the signing of Bradley Barcola earlier today as the Frenchman joined the club on a long-term contract from PSG.
Barcola’s arrival was expected to have a knock-on effect on Cody Gakpo’s future after he agreed personal terms with Manchester City.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Dutch international will remain at Anfield after Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal.
Cody Gakpo to stay at Liverpool
The Reds were on the lookout for a replacement and were linked with the likes of Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr, among others.
However, at this stage of the transfer window, it became difficult to sign players, due to which they have decided that Gakpo will be retained.

Romano wrote on X: “OFFICIAL: Liverpool have decided to keep Cody Gakpo at the club as they can’t find a replacement.
“£85m bid from Manchester City rejected as Gakpo has accepted to stay, ready to continue at LFC. Manchester City now focused on Ndiaye and Enzo Fernández.”
Ultimately, common sense has prevailed as the Reds are better off keeping Gakpo as opposed to offloading him and signing a replacement who isn’t up to the required standard.
