Keep Gakpo now, sign £191m Salah heir in 2027: The 'Bezos' Plan

**Amit Bhatia and Jeff Bezos are set to assume full control of the club in 2027 if they take advantage of language within the minority stakeholders’ agreement signed with FSG.**

According to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/13566630/liverpool-key-questions-answered-as-jeff-bezos-and-amit-bhatia-close-in-on-purchasing-strategic-minority-stake) and CNBC: _“Liverpool’s new minority investors have an option to become majority shareholders of the Premier League club for a valuation of around $8bn in the next 12 months.”_

It’s not a guarantee that Bhatia, Bezos and co. will exercise this option, but it does provide a crucial insight into what current majority shareholders, FSG, see the future looking like. The American ownership has been in charge since 2010, when they took over from Hicks and Gillett, but it now seems as though they’re ready to exit the space.

It’s unclear what Bhatia and Bezos’ sporting aims would be, although Bhatia did speak about his ambitions for Liverpool last week.

He said: _“This club has been around since 1892 and the club will be around long after we’re all gone. For a short period of time, if we were lucky enough to be part of an ownership group that can help support the club for a period of time, then all that we can hope for is that we can bring more success to the club. But more importantly, that we can make the fans even more proud of the football club that they support, that they represent, that shapes their Sunday mornings or their Mondays in the office._

_“And that’s a huge responsibility. But I think that that’s something I recognise, something that I have interacted with and it’s be_en very important to me in my heart throughout my involvement in sport.”

If I were to make one transfer demand of the new owners for 2027, it would be Michael Olise

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2026 summer transfer window brought Bradley Barcola to Anfield for a huge £123m fee, the year after the Reds spent £125m to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

With Liverpool still yet to sign anything remotely resembling a suitable replacement for Mohamed Salah, I would be happy for the club to defer signing his heir for a year if it meant they signed Michael Olise in 2027.

I will be the first to admit I did not recognise the level of talent Olise possesses when he was at Crystal Palace. Much like Salah in Serie A, the 24-year-old needed a couple of seasons in the Bundesliga to truly unlock his potential, with 44 goals and 55 assists in 109 games for the Bavarians.

Last season’s 22 goals and 31 assists in all competitions for Bayern is what Liverpool need to replace Salah.

However, it would have reportedly taken somewhere in the region of €223 million (£191m) to sign Olise this summer, and with his contract expiring in 2029, next summer will 3be the first transfer window where it is even halfway realistic to make an approach for his signature.
