Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could not make it to AS Roma this summer. Chelsea have rejected a transfer bid from the Italian club for the 2026-27 season. This means that the English left-winger will have to continue playing for the Blues.
Bynoe-Gittens to remain at the Blues this summer
As per the latest transfer news, Bynoe-Gittens will not move to AS Roma this summer. The Blues have turned down a transfer bid a few days before their first major clash with Brighton tomorrow, as reported by talkSPORT. They are apparently impressed by his skills and want to give him another chance in the 2026-27 season. Bynoe-Gittens joined **Chelsea**last year. The Blues signed him for an amount of £48.5 million in July 2025 as a part of a seven-year contract. Previously, he played for Borussia Dortmund. He played for the club between 2022 and 2025. He was also part of the club’s youth academy between 2020 and 2022.
Bynoe-Gittens’ stats for the 2025-26 season at Chelsea, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Matches Goals Assists
Premier League 16 0 2
FA Cup 1 0 0
EFL Cup 3 1 2
UEFA Champions League 7 0 1
FIFA Club World Cup 1 0 0
Will Chelsea retain Gittens further?
As mentioned before, Bynoe-Gittens has impressed the Blues with the performance. He did not make a big impact in the Premier League last year, and scored only one goal throughout the 2025-26 season across all competitions. However, the Blues haven’t lost hope in the left winger yet. They believe that he can do better next year if given the right guidance under team manager Xabi Alonso. Alonso joined the team after the 2025-26 season, bringing an end to months of instability for the Blues.

What lies ahead for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
Bynoe-Gittens is working on his fitness for the current season. The English left-winger suffered a serious injury last year. He got a hamstring injury during the clash against West Ham United on January 31. This left him out of action for the remaining season. If he wants to make a huge impact in European football, Bynoe-Gittens must improve on his fitness concerns.
Chelsea are currently working on a major overhaul this summer. Several players like Andrey Santos, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Cucurella, Liam Delap, and Trevor Chalobah have left the Stamford Bridge after the 2025-26 season. Even Enzo Fernandez may leave Chelsea this summer, if Manchester City are successful in getting a transfer. Apart from that, the club have signed players like Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra among others for the 2026-27 season.
For Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, the next season will be make or break. If he proves his mettle this summer, he can expand his profile further at Chelsea. At the same time, if AS Roma haven’t completely given up on the left-winger, they can bid for him next year.
Chelsea have experienced a roller-coaster ride last year. However, with Xabi Alonso taking charge as the team’s new manager this summer, the Blues are hopeful of a better performance in comparison to the last season. They can take inspiration from the performance of Arsenal last year.
The Gunners surprised everyone with their performance as they won their first Premier League title in more than two decades. Alonso aims to do the same for Chelsea. If Jamie Bynoe-Gittens aligns with the team manager, he could lead the club to unprecedented heights. It will be interesting to see if he is equally interested in staying at Chelsea this summer.
