Nottingham Forest are searching for a midfielder after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City earlier this summer. They had also pursued Everton’s 19-year-old Harrison Armstrong before turning their attention elsewhere.
According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, Forest have had a £25m bid plus £5m in add-ons rejected for Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni. The 19-year-old is regarded as a valued member of Andoni Iraola’s squad.

Curtis Jones left Liverpool earlier this month to join Serie A champions Inter Milan after making it clear he wanted to leave the club. However, Liverpool are not prepared to allow the same to happen with Nyoni.
Nyoni is one of the few defensive midfield options in Iraola’s squad and showed his potential during his cameo against Forest at the weekend. Nyoni is expected to take on a bigger role for Liverpool this season following Curtis Jones’ departure.
The 19-year-old featured in all three of Liverpool’s pre-season matches during their US tour, making the most of his opportunities to impress new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Nyoni told Liverpoolfc.com: “Obviously over the summer I knew I had a lot to improve, so I’ve tried to work on it over the summer and come back and give myself the best chance possible this pre-season. Obviously I still need to keep improving, keep developing each game but so far it’s been all right.”
The midfielder joined Liverpool from Leicester City in 2023 and progressed through the club’s academy before making his senior debut against Southampton in the FA Cup in 2024.
He became Liverpool’s youngest-ever player in European competition when he featured against PSV Eindhoven in January 2025.
Nyoni signed a new long-term contract on his 18th birthday in late June 2025 and made his Premier League debut against Tottenham in December 2025.
