Liverpool have confirmed the permanent departure of Stefan Bajcetic to former club Celta Vigo - and have rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest for young midfielder Trey Nyoni. The 19‑year‑old was one of the standout performers during pre‑season.

Having made his senior debut in the FA Cup in February 2024 and his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur last December, Nyoni now has 21 appearances for the Reds. He was handed his first minutes of the new campaign in the 2-2 draw with Forest at Anfield last weekend.

After being an unused substitute in the opener against Newcastle United, Nyoni replaced Alexis Mac Allister in the 77th minute - and appears to have left a lasting impression on Forest. So much so that they launched a £30million bid for the midfielder, according to [The Times.](https://x.com/_pauljoyce/status/2094498495600181639?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 31, 2026 )

The bid of £25m plus £5m in add-ons was swiftly rejected by Liverpool. Oliver Glasner's side are looking to sign a replacement for Elliot Anderson, who joined Manchester City for £116m.

However, Nyoni is viewed as a valued member of the squad despite his limited involvement so far, and he is expected to play a more significant role this season following Curtis Jones' exit.

Meanwhile, Bajcetic has returned to Celta for an undisclosed fee. Liverpool acquired his services from the Spanish side back in 2021. Bajcetic's time at Anfield was disrupted by a calf injury that derailed his development and ruled him out for most of the 2023–24 season.

The 21‑year‑old then struggled to make an impact during loan spells at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas.

A club statement confirming his exit, read: "Stefan Bajcetic has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool to Celta Vigo. The midfielder returns to the Spanish club after five-and-a-half years with the Reds in which he made 22 senior appearances and scored once.

"Bajcetic arrived on Merseyside from Celta in February 2021 and quickly progressed through the ranks at the club’s Academy. He debuted for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp as a second-half substitute during the 9-0 Anfield win over AFC Bournemouth in August 2022, aged 17.

"A first goal followed for Bajcetic in a 3-1 Premier League victory away at Aston Villa on Boxing Day that same year, and overall he featured 19 times that season. However, injury issues limited him to only three appearances in the next campaign.

"Bajcetic played 33 games across loan spells with Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas during 2024-25, though was again unable to take to the pitch during 2025-26. A deal has now been agreed for the 21-year-old to return to Celta in a permanent move. Everyone at LFC wishes Stefan the best of luck for the future."

In addition to Bajcetic, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Rhys Williams have all departed this summer. In terms of incomings, Iraola has been backed with Victor Munoz, Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet and Bradley Barcola.
