The Philadelphia Eagles are adding another body to their running back department. After being released by the Dallas Cowboys, running back Jaydon Blue is reportedly staying in the NFC East, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Former Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue, released Sunday, is signing with the Eagles practice squad, per source,” the NFL insider Schefter shared via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Blue was among the final roster cut casualties on Sunday, but he will be sticking around in the division, this time as part of the Eagles' practice squad. While this doesn't guarantee the former Texas Longhorns star a spot on the main roster, he still gets an opportunity to be active.
Before being released by the Cowboys, the 22-year-old Blue turned heads with his explosiveness in the preseason, during which he racked up totals of 94 rushing yards on 23 carries. The highlight was his performance in the game against the Arizona Cardinals, where he turned 15 rushing attempts into 75 yards.

In his lone season in Cowboys uniform, Blue rushed just 38 times for 129 yards and a touchdown in five games.
Blue entered the league as a fifth-round (149th overall) pick by the Cowboys out of Texas. In three seasons with the Longhorns, Blue rushed for 1,161 yards and 11 touchdowns on 134 carries for an efficient average of 5.4 yards per carry through 38 games.
The Eagles have three running backs making the final 53-man roster, with Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley making up the team's main RB room.
