Trabzonspor teammates Mohamed Salah and Fabinho combined for a goal that reminded Liverpool fans of what both players did so well in their five seasons together at Anfield

Mohamed Salah and Fabinho are teammates once again, and the ex-Liverpool stars combined for a vintage moment that left Reds fans reminiscing on old times.
Salah and Fabinho spent five seasons playing for Liverpool together between 2018 and 2023, during which they won seven trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. As the club ushers in a new era under Andoni Iraola, with names like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and now Bradley Barcola leading the forward line, Liverpool fans have not forgotten about the legends who brought the team back to domestic and European prominence.
That was proven on Monday when Salah and Fabinho, now playing together with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor, turned back the clock with a sequence of play that reminded every Liverpool fan of the glory days under Jurgen Klopp.
In the 11th minute of a league match against Amed Sportif, Fabinho, occupying his usual position of central defensive midfield, won the ball off an attacker and spurned a counter attack.
He laid it off to Trabzonspor winger Ernest Muci, who found Salah sprinting through on goal with nothing but green grass between him and the opposing goalkeeper.
In typical fashion of the Egyptian King, he stayed calm and composed and buried his finish into the far corner with his left foot.
Any Liverpool fan who watched the match live or saw a clip of the goal on social media was instantly reminded of what both players excelled at, perhaps better than anybody, during their reign of dominance in the Premier League.

“Fabinho winning it back and Salah running clear and scoring… No YOU’RE CRYING,” Liverpool fanpage The Redmen TV wrote on X.
Numerous fans replied with the same sentiment after seeing thetwo club legends rekindle their partnership. “Running it back. Get in Firmino and Gini (Wijnaldum) and you’ve got yourselves a new fan @Trabzonspor,” one fan wrote.
“Iraola spoke about ‘smelling’ the danger. Nobody did it better than Fabinho,” added another. “We’ve not replaced either of them,” said another fan in reference to the current squad.
Replacing Salah and Fabinho will prove difficult for any current Liverpool player given what both accomplished during their time at Anfield.
Salah, who departed at the end of the 2025-26 season, has gone down as one of the best attackers in club and Premier League history after bagging 256 goals and 121 assists in 440 appearances for the Reds across nine seasons.
Fabinho’s time at the club was shorter, but the Brazilian enforcer did more than make his mark as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe in his five seasons on Merseyside.
Although both players have rightly moved on to a new home in their respective careers, that has not stopped Liverpool fans from cheering them on and, at least temporarily, becoming Trabzonspor supporters.
