The Buffalo Bills made some veteran roster tweaks after NFL roster cutoff day. Including adding familiar face Geno Stone at safety. But Bills head coach Joe Brady also made sure Frank Gore Jr. and Jedrick Willis have a spot on the team too.
Buffalo revealed that the son of the legendary NFL running back Frank Gore and the tackle are back. Both headline the 17 players who crack the practice squad on Monday.
Gore Jr. carried the football 19 times for 81 yards and scored one touchdown during the NFL Preseason. He originally arrived to the league in 2024 undrafted from Southern Miss. He managed to play in two games last season.
So he'll add depth to a backfield already featuring James Cook III, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. Gore Jr. can move into the active roster if one of the three goes down with a brief injury.
Meanwhile, Willis can help backup perennial Pro Bowler at left tackle Dion Dawkins. He also joins a tackle room that features Alec Anderson and Spencer Brown. This offensive line comes with more scrutiny than ever amid the transition from Brady to longtime head coach Sean McDermott. The latter lost his job following the letdown playoff loss to the Denver Broncos during the AFC Divisional Playoff round.
Brady isn't likely to make many wholesale changes as he assumes the reins. Especially with unleashing All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen. But he still inherits a playoff contender roster featuring aspirations of finally getting back to the Super Bowl and this time winning it.
