Liverpool have experienced a mixed start to the season, but transfer deadline day offers a clear chance to bolster the squad and move past their early stumbles. The Reds began their Premier League campaign by sharing the points in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on the opening weekend.
This was promptly followed by another 2-2 draw at Anfield against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The clock is now ticking for the club to bring in reinforcements, as the summer window shuts at 11pm this evening (Tuesday).
Andoni Iraola has received a timely lift with the arrival of Bradley Barcola, whose transfer from PSG was finalised on Monday. Even so, the team is still lacking depth on the right wing and in the centre of the pitch. Although they are not expected to sign every player on their shortlist before the deadline, Crystal Palace wide man Ismaila Sarr remains a key target.
In the meantime, Liverpool have taken positive steps to future-proof their wide areas by securing the signature of an exciting young prospect.
Sarr update
Palace are reportedly holding firm in their determination to retain Sarr this summer, despite Liverpool's interest. The Reds had a £50million offer knocked back for the Senegal international last week, but continue to pursue the right-winger.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Eagles have thus far rebuffed additional approaches from Liverpool, but are examining possibilities in the market should an agreement be struck. Palace are also understood to be seeking £75m for their prized asset, with Foot Mercato reporting that Liverpool remain determined to secure the winger's signature.

The pursuit of Sarr follows the Reds having two offers turned down for Yankuba Minteh earlier this month. While it is believed the club have shifted their focus elsewhere, a deal could yet be revived if Brighton reduce their valuation from £80m.
Sources close to the player on Sunday suggested discussions were due to restart between the two clubs in a bid to finalise a deal late in the window. Minteh is understood to have his heart set on a switch to Merseyside.
Winger agrees move
Djylian N'Guessan is poised to join Liverpool next summer after the Reds reached an agreement with his club, Saint-Etienne. The 18-year-old was previously linked with Chelsea, but his future now looks set to bring him to Merseyside following the Reds' agreement to sign the French U20 international.

The Reds are finalising the transfer of the 18-year-old, having agreed an initial fee in a deal valued at approximately £4.25m. Should the transfer be completed, N'Guessan, who has 12 months remaining on his contract, would remain with the Ligue 2 outfit for the rest of this season.
