Barcelona are set for a very busy final day of the 2026 summer transfer window, with signings and exits to be finalised. One of those that will almost certainly depart before the deadline at 1am CEST is Marc Casado, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Hansi Flick.
The arrival of Rodri has pushed Casado firmly out of first team contention, which is why he has been pushed to the exit door. Barcelona are looking to sell him, with an asking price in the region of €30m having been set.
Casado’s situation has alerted a whole host of clubs from across Europe and Saudi Arabia. Casado values all of the interest that has come his way, particularly from La Liga sides such as Real Betis, but he sees Leverkusen as the ideal move for him at this stage of his career. He is very keen to be reunited with former La Masia coach Carles Martinez, who was appointed at the Bundesliga club’s head coach earlier in the summer.
Martinez is the main reason that Casado will prioritise joining Leverkusen, and while this will give the Germans a clear advantage when negotiations are held with Barcelona, they must meet the Catalans’ demands if they are to close a deal. At this stage, it is unsure how much they are willing to pay, but it must be in the region of €30m if they are to receive the green light from Can Barca.
It will be interesting to see how Casado’s situation plays out over the coming hours. Barcelona are desperate to cash in on him, although they will only do so if they receive a satisfactory offer.
