AS Roma are still showing interest in Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens ahead of Tuesday night’s transfer deadline.
Last month, it was reported that Roma want to sign Gittens on loan, but Chelsea are reluctant to do a temporary deal.
On deadline day, their stance does not appear to have changed in a blow to the Italian club.
Jamie Gittens not available on loan
On Monday night, it emerged that Roma are still keen on signing Gittens on loan and potentially with an option to buy for €55m (£47m).
If triggered, that would see Chelsea make nearly all their money back after signing the 22-year-old from Borussia Dortmund for a similar fee in 2025.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s stance has not changed. The Blues will not loan Gittens to Roma or any other club on deadline day.

If anyone wants to bring in Gittens before 11pm, it looks as though they will have to make an offer to sign the England Under-21 international permanently.
Gittens missed a lot of games last season because of injury but is fit again. Xabi Alonso, though, has failed to hand him a single minute in the Premier League so far.
Jamie Gittens should still get opportunities at Chelsea this season despite not playing yet
Gittens’ only minutes have come in the Carabao Cup. The former Dortmund star made a cameo in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Luton Town in the second round of the competition.
As the season goes on, though, there should be more opportunities for Gittens. Morgan Rogers cannot start every game, so Gittens could come in for his teammate when he needs a rest or is unavailable.
Alejandro Garnacho has joined Aston Villa on loan, so Gittens will not have to compete with him to be Rogers’ deputy.
Gittens may not want such a role at Stamford Bridge, especially after missing so much game time last season. But if he is willing to accept it, Chelsea will be expected to keep hold of him.
