Chelsea deadline day: What time does the transfer window close?

Chelsea enter transfer deadline day with major business still potentially to be completed at Stamford Bridge, but time is rapidly running out for Premier League clubs to finalise their summer deals.

The summer transfer window officially closes on Tuesday 1 September at 11pm BST, giving Chelsea one final day to reshape Xabi Alonso’s squad.

The Premier League has confirmed the 23:00 BST deadline after the window opened on June 15.

What time does the Chelsea transfer window close?

Chelsea must normally complete the required paperwork by 11pm for a transfer to be registered before the window shuts.

There is, however, some flexibility for deals already agreed.

The Premier League’s deal-sheet system allows clubs working on a late transfer to secure an additional two hours, provided a completed deal sheet is submitted between 9pm and the 11pm deadline.

Chelsea could be one of the busiest clubs to watch.

Manchester City have opened talks over a potential deal for Enzo Fernandez after the midfielder previously agreed personal terms, while Chelsea’s own midfield search has seen Manu Koné emerge as a priority.

The Blues have also continued trimming Alonso’s squad, with Tosin Adarabioyo completing a permanent switch to Tottenham.

Chelsea therefore enter the final hours with both incoming and outgoing business potentially still on the table.

After 11pm, any deal without the necessary documentation or valid deal sheet will have to wait until the January window.
