Chelsea loanee Filip Jorgensen tipped for an award already at Strasbourg

**Filip Jorgensen appears to be having a bit more luck at his new club Strasbourg.**

[Filip Jorgensen](https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/tag/filip-jorgensen/)โ€™s spell at Chelsea has seen him struggle to establish himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. Arriving from Villarreal in July 2024 for a fee around ยฃ20.7 million, he initially logged 36 appearances, featuring prominently during Chelseaโ€™s Conference League-winning run, before injury setbacks and rotational shifts reduced his role behind Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea have not sold Jorgensen, as he remains under a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge through June 2031. Instead, he joined sister club RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan for the 2026โ€“27 campaign to secure consistent first-team minutes.

And itโ€™s safe to say that itโ€™s gone well so far.

Starting against Lens in Ligue 1, Filip Jorgensen produced a brilliant performance, making five crucial saves, including a stunning save from Florian Sotoca to secure Strasbourgโ€™s 2-1 victory.

And it was this save that caught the eye of the official Strasbourg X account.

โ€˜We regret to inform the rest of @Ligue1\_ENG that the save of the season contest has ended โ€” ๐…๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ ๐‰รธ๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐ง is the winner!โ€™

Since joining RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan, Filip Jorgensen has started both of Strasbourgโ€™s opening Ligue 1 matches, playing the full 180 minutes.

Across those two starts, he has faced 14 shots on target and made nine total saves (four against Marseille and five against RC Lens) for a 64.3% save rate. While he has conceded five goals, four during an opening away defeat at Marseille followed by one in a 2-1 win against Lens, he remains without a clean sheet.

Additionally, Jorgensen has completed 66 out of 86 passes (76.7% accuracy), recorded four clearances, and received one yellow card.
