Tottenham Hotspur to sign Chelsea centre-back Tosin on permanent deal
Super Eagles-eligible defender Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged as a permanent transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur after Chelsea and Spurs changed the initial plan for his move during the final hours of the summer window.
Both clubs had previously reached an agreement for Tosin to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan.
However, the proposed arrangement has now changed, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly set to complete a permanent deal for the Nigerian-eligible defender.
Spurs have identified Tosin as a replacement for Kevin Danso, who is reportedly close to joining Sunderland before the close of the transfer window.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Italian transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano revealed that he expects the deal for Tosin and Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk to be completed.
"I expect 'Here We Go' for Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhailo Mudryk for Tottenham from Chelsea," Romano said.
"Tosin because Kelvin Danso is leaving, Sunderland are pushing and Danso wants to play on a regular basis, so Tosin is the replacement on a permanent deal."
Romano further explained that Tottenham initially planned to sign Tosin on loan but were forced to change their approach because of the club's situation with Mudryk.
"It started as a loan yesterday. So, they were planning to sign Tosin on loan to replace Danso, but then what happened?"
"Iliman Ndiaye was off today and so they have to loan Mudryk and so they can't do two loans from the same club. Permanent deal for Tosin to Tottenham from Chelsea, loan deal for Mudryk."
The development means Tosin could now make a permanent switch across London as Tottenham look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
The former Manchester City player will be keen to complete the move and secure regular first-team football as he looks to establish himself as an important figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
