Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has revealed his stance on the anticipated signing of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, confirming that the Arsenal striker would be a strong addition to the Catalan team.
Gabriel Jesus arrived in Barcelona on Monday, ahead of completing his move to the team, after the club’s attempts to sign Argentine Julian Alvarez failed.
Flick said during the press conference following the 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the third round of the Spanish League: “Jesus is a top-class striker, and he will be an important addition for us. He can offer a lot to the team, and I am happy to have him here”.
He added: “Jesus suffered some injuries in the past period, but he is in good condition now, and I spoke with him, and he was somewhat surprised to get the opportunity to join Barcelona”.
The Barcelona coach continued: “I think he suits the team and our style of play, and I see the deal as important for us”.
Flick praised the role of Deco, the club’s sporting director, in completing the deal, saying: “I also thank Deco, he has once again done a great job”.
Barcelona had achieved a big win over Rayo Vallecano by five goals to two, so the team continued its perfect start in the Spanish League and maintained its lead in the standings.
