The Philadelphia Eagles released their initial practice squad list, and for the most part, the team did pretty well.
Philly signed 13 players to the practice squad, with two more reportedly added but not officially. The Eagles got most of their own players back, but did sign one from outside the team after a tryout.
There were plenty of winners and losers from what the Eagles did with the practice squad. Here is the list of the winners and losers.
Winners and losers from Eagles' initial practice squad list
Winner: Eagles running backs
Eagles fans can rejoice in seeing Carson Steele and Dameon Pierce coming back after some worries they would be claimed elsewhere. Steele and Pierce had outstanding preseasons and proved they belong on the team in some capacity. They might have a chance to play this season if injuries happen or Will Shipley struggles, so the Eagles have to feel good about the running back situation.
Loser: Michael Jordan, OG
Jordan is a solid veteran who had too many young players ahead of him play well in preseason. It was a bit surprising not to see his name included in the practice squad, as the Eagles only had two offensive linemen. Maybe that will change soon.
Winner: Joshua Weru, EDGE & Uar Bernard, DT
The International Pathway Program players stick around, and that's probably for the best. If Weru and Bernard had gone elsewhere, they might not have been set up for success, and the Eagles would keep two players who could be difference-makers on this roster in 2027 or 2028. Everyone wins in this situation.
Loser: Deontae Lawson, LB
Lawson had a really nice camp, so it was a surprise not to see him as part of the practice squad at first. He played well in the preseason and was flying around to the football, but with the linebacker room so deep and Vic Fangio being a fan of Chance Campbell, there might not have been room for Lawson to make it.
Winner: Mason Reiger, EDGE
How about not spending a second in training camp with the Eagles, but still landing a job? Kudos to Reiger for getting on the practice squad after his workout and landing a spot. It'll be interesting to see what kind of impact he will have on the team.
Loser: Jose Ramirez, EDGE
Reiger ended up replacing Ramirez, which is disappointing, as Ramirez was arguably the best edge rusher during the preseason. He got a ton of pressures on the field and played well enough to be on the practice squad. This is one the Eagles need to look back on and add to the team because he 100% deserved it.

Winner: Howie Roseman, GM
Roseman got his two running backs back and kept the international players. Aside from the New England Patriots claiming Cameron Latu, everything seemed to work out pretty well for the Eagles and Roseman, with the main players not being claimed.
