Everton are reportedly considering a last-minute move for Parma midfielder Mandela Keita, with a decision expected imminently on whether to push ahead with a Deadline Day deal.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Everton are expected to make a decision “in the coming moments” over whether to move for the 24-year-old.
There is further evidence of activity in Italy.
Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that contacts are ongoing over Keita, with Everton and Roma both interested in the Belgium international.
It is not the first time the Toffees have explored a deal.
Everton opened talks with Parma and Keita’s representatives earlier this summer, while subsequent reports suggested the Italian club wanted at least €25m plus bonuses.
Keita back on Everton’s radar
The timing of Everton’s renewed interest is particularly notable.
Tim Iroegbunam is expected to undergo a medical with Hull City ahead of a reported £22m move, potentially creating another opening in David Moyes’ midfield.
Keita would offer a more defensive option in that area.
The 24-year-old joined Parma from Royal Antwerp in 2024 and has since established himself in Serie A, starting both of their league games so far this season.
Everton’s interest therefore looks less like a completely new Deadline Day opportunity and more like a return for a player they have tracked for much of the summer.
There is still some distance to travel before this can be considered an advanced deal.
Tavolieri’s update suggests Everton are still deciding whether to make their move, while Di Marzio’s report points to competition from Roma.
But with Iroegbunam seemingly heading for the exit and Everton back in contact over a midfielder they already know well, Keita is one to watch closely as the deadline approaches.
