Arsenal move for Elisa De Almeida
Centre-back had remained a priority area for Arsenal despite a major summer rebuild which has already transformed Slegers’ squad.
Read Arsenal recently looked at how Arsenal Women have rebuilt almost half their squad ahead of the new WSL season, with Ona Batlle, Georgia Stanway and Selina Cerci among the headline additions.
De Almeida would add another experienced international defender to that group.
The France international joined PSG in 2021 after spells with Paris FC and Montpellier and has since passed 100 appearances for the French club. PSG’s official player profile lists her primarily as a defender, while she has also featured regularly for France at international level.
Arsenal have already added Batlle to their defensive options this summer, but the departures of Laia Codina and other squad changes left Slegers needing further cover in central defence.
De Almeida’s experience across both domestic and Champions League football would address that immediately.
The reported £550,000 fee would also represent another significant investment in an Arsenal Women squad already built to challenge for the WSL title this season.
There is not yet official confirmation from either Arsenal or PSG, so the exact fee and contract details remain to be announced.
But with terms now agreed according to BBC Sport, De Almeida appears to be moving towards becoming the latest addition to Arsenal Women’s extensive summer rebuild.
