Enzo Fernandez's camp believe that Chelsea will give the green light for the Argentina international to seal a late deadline day transfer to Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Chelsea midfielder is expected to reunite with former Blues boss Enzo Maresca at the Etihad Stadium before Tuesday evening's 11pm transfer deadline.

Fernandez's Chelsea future has been a major talking point all summer and a Stamford Bridge exit could finally happen in the remaining hours and minutes of deadline day.

"At the moment, Enzo is waiting. His agents are waiting. City are waiting as well. So let's see what Chelsea decide to do. But I believe that this one is going to be a late one for sure," said Romano on GIVMESPORT's Market Madness podcast.

"At this stage, it is not guaranteed at all. I can guarantee to you that as of now, from Enzo Fernandez's camp and people close to the player, they are still feeling the tension, so they don't have any sort of guarantee about Chelsea giving the green light. They believe they will. They hope they will because it's deadline day. Because Enzo is ready. Enzo wants to go.

"The contract is already agreed. So they believe this is going to happen, but they are not in the position to guarantee anything, so at this stage, I'm not 100% sure that this deal is happening.

"I could say 90% could be, but 100% at the moment no, because we have to wait for Chelsea's decision. So let's see what's going to happen. I can guarantee to you that Enzo can't wait to go to Manchester City, and so can't wait to be again with Enzo Maresca. So he's only waiting for a call, but at the moment we can only wait."

Chelsea are going to be very active on transfer deadline day as they look to finalise Xabi Alonso's squad for the first half of the season.

The Blues have made the perfect start to the new Premier League term with two wins from two and they will be looking to carry that on in the weeks ahead.

In terms of potential incomings at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are keen on signing Monaco's highly-rated midfielder Lamine Camara after submitting a £38.5m bid.

talkSPORT report that the west London side could even turn to the Premier League when it comes to adding to their options in the middle of the park.

They report that Lucas Bergvall of Tottenham, Arsenal's Martin Zubimendi and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White are all also being considered by Chelsea.
