Hislop: Chelsea have impressed, but areas of concern remain (1:24)

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor, with the player set to move to Stamford Bridge in 2027.

The 18-year-old will spend this season on loan at Crystal Palace from the Serie A side before joining Chelsea officially next year.

He made 22 league appearances last season having moved from Genoa a year ago, making his debut for Italy in a friendly against Luxembourg in June.

The move to Selhurst Park will mean the teenager gets Premier League experience while providing cover in defence for Chadi Riad, who ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament in the opening-day defeat to Everton and is set to miss most of the season.

Ahanor told Palace's website: "I'm very happy to be here and to be a part of this great family.

"To be at one of the best clubs for young players in the Premier League is something which makes me grateful and excited."

Outcast Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has joined RB Leipzig on a five-year deal for £14.5 million, bringing to an end a two-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old joined from Barcelona in 2024 for £5m but struggled to make an impact, making only 11 Premier League appearances and failing to score.

He was loaned to Sunderland at the beginning of last season but was recalled after three appearances to cover injuries in attack, though his game time remained limited in west London.

He joins strikers David Datro Fofana, Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap in having departed Chelsea during the transfer window.
