Time is running out for Manchester City to sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea.

The transfer deadline is at 11pm, but City are not yet thought to have agreed a fee with Chelsea to sign the midfielder.

Even so, Chelsea are looking at other midfielders as they prepare for Fernandez’s possible departure, which still seems quite likely.

Chelsea considering Morgan Gibbs-White, Martin Zubimendi and Lucas Bergvall

Throughout this transfer window, Chelsea have been linked with Morgan Gibbs-White, Martin Zubimendi and Lucas Bergvall.

According to talkSPORT, the Blues are now considering each midfielder as they prepare for life without Fernandez.

There is also talk about Chelsea being interested in another Premier League player to potentially replace Fernandez.

As of now, that Chelsea target’s name remains a mystery. Blues fans will just want to see a midfielder come in before the deadline, especially after their first two Premier League games.

Xabi Alonso’s side were able to win both matches, but Moises Caicedo has been carrying a small injury problem. At one stage, Malo Gusto was playing in the middle of the park, showing Chelsea’s lack of options right now.

Who Chelsea’s priority should be out of Morgan Gibbs-White, Martin Zubimendi and Lucas Bergvall

Gibbs-White and Zubimendi are brilliant players, while Bergvall has a lot of potential. Out of the three, Gibbs-White is the most exciting name after another impressive season.

Last term, the Nottingham Forest star scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 37 Premier League games.

Most Chelsea fans would probably welcome Gibbs-White to Stamford Bridge. However, he is definitely more of an attacking player than a midfield one, someone who wants to get into the box and pose a threat.

Chelsea need more of a midfield controller like Zubimendi going off their first few games under Alonso. The Spaniard should be one of their priorities right now, but it is hard to imagine Arsenal selling to their London rivals Chelsea so late in the window.
