AS Monaco are holding an ‘emergency meeting’ regarding midfielder Lamine Camara as Chelsea look to sign the midfielder on deadline day.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that the 22-year-old is currently meeting with Monaco’s leadership over the bid from Chelsea.
He, his agent and Monaco manager Luis Henrique are currently in the sporting director’s office discussing a potential transfer. A decision on a move to Chelsea is ‘imminent’.
Chelsea moves
Chelsea have made their move for Lamine Camara over the last few days. A report at the weekend stated that their leadership was in Monaco to try and finalise a deal.
A report the following day insisted that work was underway to seal the deal as soon as possible. It was then reported that a deal had been struck for the midfielder.
But reports in England have since indicated that the deal is stuck in limbo. Monaco have reportedly blocked Chelsea’s efforts to sign the midfielder. That, it seems, has led to a last-minute emergency meeting at the Ligue 1 side today to work out a solution.
Monaco decision key
Whether that leads to Monaco sanctioning a move to Stamford Bridge, remains to be seen. There appears to be no desire in the Principality for that to happen at this point.
But a meeting involving the manager, player, his agent and sporting director hints at serious talks taking place, nonetheless.
Chelsea, of course, are on the hunt for a new midfielder as Enzo Fernandez appears destined to joined Manchester City.
All indications are that – despite the Blues setting a deadline earlier this summer – the Argentine will head to the Etihad before Wednesday’s 11pm deadline.
That will leave a hole to be filled in Chelsea’s midfield and Camara is seemingly the one that they want to do it. Now it all depends on the big meeting in Monaco.
