Leicester City starlet Louis Page is still on the agenda for Manchester United, who hope to beat the deadline to his signing according to Ben Jacobs.
Leicester City are looking to beat the deadline to several signings today, with a deal to sign John Lundstram already agreed and Bristol city striker Emil Riis close. Outgoings could also be on the agenda as well for LCFC, with Wout Faes among the candidates to leave.
However, one departure could be an unwanted one for Russell Martin. Ben Jacobs has said that Manchester United are still in talks with Leicester City over a deal to bring youngster Louis Page to Old Trafford this summer.
League One Roundup
They face a race against the clock to get a deal done and have been eyeing a move all summer. Arsenal also remain keen on the 18-year-old who has featured four times for LCFC so far this season.
A massive few hours ahead for Leicester City and Louis Page
Leicester City will have been keen for Page to continue his development through the club’s academy.
Despite only turning 18 in July, Page has already demonstrated his ability to compete above his age group. He has made 21 appearances for the U18s, scoring twice and providing three assists, while also featuring 19 times for the U21s and contributing two goals and four assists.
His performances against older opposition underline his potential and suggest he has a bright future ahead of him. Unfortunately for Leicester, though, that development now appears increasingly likely to continue away from the King Power Stadium.
Having already signed a professional contract, Leicester City are in a stronger negotiating position than they were during Jeremy Monga’s departure. Manchester United, or any other interested club, would therefore need to reach a direct agreement with the Foxes for Page.
The Verdict: Leicester City should hold firm and look to keep Louis Page this summer
There is little doubt that Page would be interested in a move to a Premier League club this summer. However, remaining at Leicester City could provide him with the ideal opportunity to continue his development over the coming campaign.
Leicester were relegated to League One last season and are now rebuilding as a club under Martin. Page could establish himself as a regular first-team player in the third tier while working under a manager who wants his side to play an attractive style of football.
For a creative midfielder, the prospect of playing under Martin should be an appealing one for Page. It could prove hugely beneficial to his long-term development and ensure he remains on the radar of top-flight clubs.
LCFC have given him opportunities in the early weeks of the season already. He is ready to contibute and look comfortable in League One despite only just turning 18.
