Tottenham Hotspur have reached out to Chelsea over a move for Mykhailo Mudryk, as per latest transfer news. The player, who has barely kicked a ball for his club in almost two years, now seems ready to make the switch.
Spurs turn to Mykhailo Mudryk after missing out on top targets
Tottenham have already spent close to £380m this summer. But, Roberto De Zerbi is refusing to slow down before Tuesday’s deadline. The Italian coach wanted one more winger to freshen up his attack, and his first choice was never actually Mudryk.
Spurs tried hard to land Iliman Ndiaye from Everton after missing out on Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman now looks set to stay at Liverpool despite strong interest from Manchester City. Left without their main targets, Spurs have quickly pivoted toward alternative options.
Now, Mudryk has emerged as a genuine surprise name on their list, as reported by ESPN. Interest in the winger is not limited to north London either. Sunderland and Leeds United have also made checks on his availability. Although it remains unclear just how advanced any of those talks actually are. Meanwhile, De Zerbi and Mudryk have worked together at Shakhtar Donetsk before the winger completed his £88m move to Chelsea in January 2023.

Tosin Adarabioyo also on Spurs’ radar
Mudryk is not the only Chelsea player Tottenham have shown interest in. The Premier League side have also made contact regarding defender Tosin Adarabioyo. He has struggled for regular football since moving to the west London club. Kevin Danso looks likely to push through an exit on deadline day. Tottenham view Tosin as a sensible replacement option at the back given his PL experience and physical profile.
However, there is a big issue that could shape how this entire situation unfolds. EPL rules only allow a club to have one player on loan from the same rival team at any given time. That means if Spurs want Mudryk on loan and also want to bring in Tosin before Tuesday’s deadline, they will almost certainly have to sign the defender on a permanent basis instead of a temporary one.
Spurs have already broken their transfer record twice this window. They brought in Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for a fee in the region of £92.5m and Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for around £85m. In addition, they spent heavily on Jan Paul van Hecke and other new faces as well.

If Tottenham manage to complete either deal, it would be one of the more unexpected storylines of an already dramatic summer. Adding Mudryk, even on loan, would give De Zerbi extra attacking depth without committing huge long term wages, since Chelsea would likely cover a large portion of his salary.
For Chelsea, allowing Mudryk to leave, even on loan, would mark a quiet admission that his time at the club has not worked out as hoped. Losing Tosin permanently would also free up space and wages in a squad that has already spent heavily this summer.
