Harvey Elliott has joined the Spanish club Valencia on a season-long loan from Liverpool, where he should get regular game time after a tough 12 months.
Last term, Elliott was on loan at Aston Villa. But after Unai Emery decided that he didn't want to pay the $47 million (£35 million) fee that had been agreed to sign him permanently, he refused to play him for most of the campaign in order to avoid triggering the buying clause.
That meant Elliott lost match sharpness. When he arrived back at Liverpool for pre-season, he was hoping to stake a claim under Andoni Iraola, but looked a little off the pace.
Lacking confidence and some match sharpness, Elliott has now joined Valencia in a bid to play regularly. It should be a league that suits his skillset and strengths.
Elliott could make his Valencia debut against Barcelona on Sunday. Carlos Corberan, the former West Brom manager, is now charge of Los Che.
They have so far picked up one point from a possible nine so far this season, drawing with Celta Vigo, who has just signed Stefan Bajcetic, before losing to Real Betis and Deportivo A Coruna.

"An incredible club," Elliott told reporters in Valencia after he landed in Spain to undergo his medical.
"I'm really thankful for the opportunity. I'm going to play as well as I can here and I know the history of the club.
"It determines a lot of hard work and I'm going to give everything I have for Valencia. It happened quite quick and I was ready for the call.
"It's just making sure I'm ready to come here and play and I am. I'm here now and I'm looking forward to it.

"The goal is to get Valencia into European football. It is an incredible club and I want to do the best I can for them. I feel like with the team, we can do that, but it is going to be a hard season.
"I'll play anywhere. I'm just happy to play football. But as a number 10, that is where I think I am the most effective."
Should Elliott do well with Valencia, he could then return to Liverpool next summer and have another attempt at forcing his way into Iraola's plans. It might also be a platform to earn a permanent move.
