Liverpool did not make a move to sign Lamine Camara this summer despite the common consensus that the Reds needed to sign a No.6.
After the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on the opening day of the summer, Jamie Carragher argued that there is no possible way for Liverpool to return to aggressive high-pressing football without a midfield destroyer.
He said: “I don’t believe that midfield can function with the personnel in there. For me, it doesn’t work. And it’s not just about personnel, it’s the structure the manager is asking.”
Now, reporting on talkSPORT, Ben Jacobs claimed that Lamine Camara was an option assessed by Liverpool and that the midfielder is keen on the move, but the Reds are not going to sign him.
Jacobs said: “Lamine Camara, second option, player is keen on the move. Now Liverpool have looked as well, but I’m told they will not do the move this window. So Camara may be faced with a choice. Does he wait for Liverpool?

Are Liverpool crazy about Camara?
The fact that Liverpool bid £60m for Yankuba Minteh and around the same for Ismaila proves that they had more money to spend this summer, so there lack of a bid for Camara suggests to me that they are not crazy about the Senegal midfielder.
When have Liverpool ever not bid for a player that they both wanted and needed?
It never happens.
They might take their sweet time agreeing on a fee, but the fact that Liverpool never even moved for Camara would suggest to me that something is off.
Because you won’t get me to believe that they didn’t want to sign a new midfielder after Curtis Jones left. I just don’t buy the line that has been put out by several journalists that Liverpool didn’t want to replace Jones.
That said, Camara doesn’t appear to be a hugely enticing option to them.
