Torino made several signings on deadline day, including Rolando Mandragora from Fiorentina, Daniel Braganca from Sporting CP and Everton’s Nathan Patterson, but have until Thursday to sell Gvidas Gineitis to Celtic.

The Italian transfer deadline has already passed at 19.00 UK time (20.00 CEST) on Tuesday, meaning the Serie A sides can no longer bring in anyone who isn’t a free agent.

However, they can still make sales to the markets that are open, and this gives them an important opportunity to cash in.

Gineitis has long been on the radar for Celtic, with several proposals rejected in recent months, but it seems as if he could finally be heading to Scotland.

There is no rush, because the deadline there for new signings isn’t until Thursday, so it allowed Torino to start Gineitis in this evening’s Coppa Italia tie against Monza, but the sale for circa €10m is still expected.

Meanwhile, Toro made several last-minute signings, including players who will cover the role taken by Gineitis.

They purchased Mandragora from Fiorentina in a deal believed to be worth around €5m plus up to €3m in various add-ons, a return for the player who had already been there on loan in 2021-22.

Braganca also completed his move to Torino from Sporting CP, on loan for circa €1m with an option to buy at the end of the season for circa €3m.

Another surprising addition is Everton and Scotland international right-back Nathan Patterson, with the fee reported to be €1m, leaving the Toffees 30 per cent of the future sale.
